Follow a person or company in your niche with a large following. You can use the Find People link on the top right of your Twitter page to enter a keyword associated with your niche.

For example lets say you want to follow people interested in health, you would enter “health” in the find people search and then choose the Tweeter with a large following(1,000+) who interests you the most.

Or you could search for large companies related to health such as @WholeFoods (who has over 550,000 followers now) and follow them.

Set up your profile with a good picture and a catchy BIO. Your picture is important since it is the first thing people see about your profile. Be sure your picture uploads nice and clear or it will not be attractive to potential followers.

A good, interesting, witty BIO will help attract followers as well.

I have a few different Twitter accounts I market for and using the methods below get me 200+ followers in my target niche every day. By niche followers I mean people who share your interests that are following you.

Fun Stuff: friends, favorites, and stats!

The following commands can be typed directly into the tweet window at Twitter, but will not work well in the wondow on TweetDeck for some reason

• @username + message
  

directs a twitter at another person, and causes your twitter to save in their “replies” tab.
Example: @meangrape I love that song too!

• D username + message

sends a person a private message that goes to their device, and saves in their web archive.
Example: d krissy want to pick a Jamba Juice for me while you’re there?

• WHOIS username

retrieves the profile information for any public user on Twitter.
Example: whois jack

• GET username

retrieves the latest Twitter update posted by the person.
Example: get goldman

• NUDGE username

reminds a friend to update by asking what they’re doing on your behalf.
Example: nudge biz

• FAV username

marks a person’s last twitter as a favorite. (hint: reply to any update with FAV to mark it as a favorite if you’re receiving it in real time)
Example: fav al3x

• STATS

this command returns your number of followers, how many people you’re following, and which words you’re tracking.

• INVITE phone number
  

will send an SMS invite to a friend’s mobile phone.
Example: Invite 415 555 1212
